Proposal Form Entry

Important information to consider before beginning the proposal initiation:

• What is the internal title and proposal title?
  
• Who will be the organization (UCAR/NCAR/UCP) Principal Investigator?
• Which organization will lead the proposal submission?
• Will funding be requested or is this a zero dollar proposal?
• Will this be a joint NCAR-UCP proposal?

The responses related to these questions will determine the Proposal Type (simple vs. complex) and Proposal Structure (funded vs. unfunded).

Proposal Numbering:

Upon creation of a  Proposal Form or Project, the system will automatically generate a proposal number in a format of "20##-####". A Proposal is created once the first Proposal Form page is saved.

Proposal Numbering for Complex Proposals:

In a Complex Proposal, a unique proposal number (in the format of 20##-####) is required for both the Proposal and any full Projects. A unique number will be generated when both the Proposal and each new full Project is created.

 Note that budgets are identified by their names rather than by proposal numbers as multiples can be created under both Proposals and Projects.
