Budget Grids with Tips for Entry

Budget Grids allow users to enter costs associated with the proposal or project.  The responses to the questions in the proposal and budget forms determine the format of the budget grids (where the budget numbers are entered).

The Entity chosen on the first page of the Proposal Form drives which rate types are available in the “Indirect Type” drop down box for each row. Depending on the rate type chosen, the appropriate indirect cost rate will be calculated on the line item. 

Here are a few tips regarding budget entry in the grids:

  • To request salary for a staff member, select by name in the dropdown. All staff from the lead Lab or Program will be available for selection.  To select a staff member from outside the Home Lab or Program , add the team member in the Proposal Form on the Team Members page.
  • When adding a TBD staff member, select the Home Lab or Program so that CSC rates calcualte correctly.
  • When adding staff, select the Title and Role so that the budget reports and 1030 report generate accurately.
  • If you add a row to a grid and then determine it is not needed, it should be deleted to insure that budget reports generate accurately.
