Select the Direct Sponsor:

Tips for finding the Direct Sponsor

  • Use the autofill function by beginning to type the name, or
  • Use the filtering functons.  All fund sources now have attirbutes such as:  Federal/Non-Federal, Civilian/Military, US/Foreign (Country Designation) FFRDC and Government/Commercial/Non-Profit/University. This will allow for enhanced filtering and reporting.
  • Use the "%" symbol as a wildcard
  • Attempt to find the name that provides the most definitive information such as Office of Naval Research instead of either Navy or Department of Defense.  Note that agencies with several levels in the organization such as NSF-GEO-AGS are so identified in the tables.
  • Add Organization if not listed by selecting "Request to Add Organization" in the Proposal Workspace. The Contracts Office will manage this process.

Direct Sponsor Contact information:

The Contact Information can be entered for each specific proposal.  (This data will not be saved in the Organiazation/Contacts tables within PandA for use on other Proposals)

Did the Funding Opportunity for this Proposal originate from another organization? This question is intended to allow for the possible funding scenarios:

  • The Direct Sponsor is a recipient of a Federal Award and is subawarding or subcontracting to UCAR.  In this instance, the Federal Agency providing the funds is the Originating Agency and will be recorded as the Prime Sponsor if awarded. (Most common scenario)
  • The Direct Sponsor is a Federal Agency.  Another Federal Agency is the Originating Agency and the source of funds and may also have issued an RFP with conditions that UCAR must observe.
  • The Direct Sponsor may be a Non-Profit, Commercial or University.  In rare instances, the Originating Agency may be a non-Federal Agency such as a Commercial or Non-profit.

This selection of Fund Source information will drive the UCAR Management Fee (0%, 3% or 5%) rate application in the Budget Grids. Note that the Rate and Fee Matrix that applies to the current proposal will be available on the Budget Workspace.  If the proposal is intended to be awarded through an NSF Cooperative Agreement as an Interagency Award (IA), select the agency providing the funding (not NSF).

A note regarding Fund Source selection in a Complex Proposal scenario:

The Direct and Prime Fund Sources designated at the Proposal level will be the ONLY fund sources to drive budget attributes. The Fund Source collected at the Project level will be for informational purposes only.
