The Budget Grid for GAUs will only be available if you choose YES as the answer to question #3 “Does this budget include Co-Sponsorship of NSF Base Funding?” on the General Budget Information form:

Choose from one of the 3 GAU Types:

• Lab/Division Allocation
• Joint NCAR/University Allocation
• NCAR Director’s Reserve

The GAU rate defaults to the institutional approved rate.

• Unless required by the sponsoring agency as a match, Co‐Sponsorship of GAUs is unallowable on those Proposals that are non‐collaborative.
• Within the response to criterion two, divisions are required to explain how the use of divisional GAUs will be beneficial to their university partner on the project.
• Any proposal requesting to Co‐Sponsor GAUs with limited university collaboration will receive additional scrutiny in the review process and is an added criterion that prompts direct review by the NCAR Director.
